Wildies Food FB page help

Postby TeresaFoodie » September 15th, 2017, 6:03 am

I have joined the group and have been approved but cannot seem to add a photo or make a post.
There is a tick to say I am joined. If I click on post I get a screen and keyboard but if I try to type nothing happens.
If I click on any of the top icons I get taken back to my own personal FB page.
I am a bit thick when it comes to FB so any help would be good. Ta!

Tezza, most of us have only joined in the event that this site gets taken down and it's hardly an active group at the moment .. Why don't you post the photos on here ?

Oh, I missed any conversation about possibility of here being closed, sorry.

Another group I'm in, which I originally set up over 15 years ago, but stepped away from Administrating years ago, recently switched to FB a couple of months ago, as there was to be yet another change of platforms from the company where we currently host the board, and would have been a lot of effort for the Admin to re-create everything to transfer to the new one. I suggested FB instead, very quick to set up and all but one of the group were already on FB, so already the activity level in the group has increased a lot.

For some reason I cannot post pics on here but I can on Facebook. Tried to put a pic of my toms on here a few weeks ago to no avail! I know it's my lack of knowledge but easier to post images on FB!

It would be sad to lose anyone, but from an Administration perspective, a FB group is a lot less work / effort for Lee and also zero cost involved as well. In addition, whilst there are usually one or two who disappear as they won't join FB, there are a lot of others who are far more active...
I don't mind where the group sits, as long as it's least workload / cost / problems for Lee.

The idea was to have a central place where we could go to keep in touch whilst deciding if we would have another board or join another existing one of some kind. FB doesn't appeal to all but is doing a good job as a central meeting place and many members have contact details for those who prefer not to join.

I love FB, am a prolific user and really enjoy it, it's also far easier to post photos, and I have over there.

For people who aren't into FB, there's always the option of creating a profile just for the WF page, using your name from this board. It would be similar to joining another forum and no risk of sharing personal info. There is also Sakkarin forum http://www.carta.co.uk/foodforum/viewfo ... 78ea46dd4c

FaceAche trawls your info, I think that this is part of the T&Cs. No, I am not deluded enough to think to think that I do not exist in cyberland. Luckily I have a stunningly common name and am seriously dull in general, I live in a world of mousey dullness. Even my hair is mousey and unremarkable.

Can anyone tell me how to add a profile pic to my posts? Sorry if I have asked this before and missed a reply. I have tried by clicking on my add photo area and get taken to suggested photos - just one whereas I have loads on my phone. I do not currently have the internet on my laptop.

Your profile on the wildfood fab page doesn't have a picture so you need to add one there. Did you start a new profile by mistake instead of joining the page with your existing one?

I cannot seem to add a profile pic on the WF FB group. I have one on my FB page (cat paw print tattoo as Pat says) so does that not automatically appear in the WF group? I have no idea how I joined the group but think I may have clicked a link posted on here, or went into my FB page and did a search for the group and joined.
I am totally useless with FB as you can probably tell.
Just today my sister said something had appeared on her news feed. I thought 'What's one of those?'

If you have a profile picture, it would show in the group. You don't have a separate photo for groups or pages and your profile pic is always public. When you're on your account with the profile pic, can you post on the Wildfood group?

If it's on your FB profile it will appear on the Wildes page, but possibly you'll only be able to see it if you start a thread.

If I click on Tezza's name in the group, there is no profile pic at at all. I think she must have accidentally started a new profile. If you're Facebook friends with Pat, she can try adding you to the group.

I was sent the last link and when I clicked on it I was taken to the page but it kept telling me my FB password was not valid. You changed it and I got in but my profile pic did not appear. It was only when Rio renamed it that I found it via the search and then it worked fine.
